“The Rise of China’s Capital Markets” was the optimistic title of KPMG’s inaugural report on China’s stocks, bonds and derivative markets published in 2007. Since then, we’ve weathered a financial crisis, market uncertainties and unexpected regulatory changes. While China’s capital markets are still growing and opportunities are abundant, there are an increasing number of questions that need to be asked. How can North American companies access these markets? What types of contacts are necessary to create a successful deal?

As many of our past participants and readers know, the GCFF has spent the past 11 years hosting conferences and events that have strived to provide North American companies with the knowledge and networks to succeed in doing business in China.

Earlier this summer, our NAI500 investor relations team held its first China Investor Road Show. Held from June 23rd to 26th, the Road Show brought four North American public companies to tour China’s major financial centres: Shanghai, Hong Kong and Shenzhen.

Through the success of the Road Show, we have been able to build upon our networks of investors in China particularly with investors in the mining industry. You can be sure that we will be capitalizing on these new networks and bringing them to Canada to meet with our GCFF participants!

On July 12th to 16th, members of our GCFF team travelled to New York and Toronto to expand our networks.

For our Life Sciences Section, we have met with a number of groups representing governmental organizations, economic development and technology development zones, and other groups that represent the many new technologies and companies coming out of Canada.

As the flagship conference of the Global Chinese Financial Forum series, the Toronto Conference is hosted in the financial hub of Canada. Along with being the centre of Canadian business, Toronto is also home to a large Chinese speaking population. Our 2 day event will feature 2 separate sections that will assist in
1. Access Greater Chinese capital market opportunities
2. Reaching Toronto’s Chinese investor community

The Day 1- Access Asian Capital Forum is hosted for industrial attendees focusing on business matching opportunities, such as with mergers and acquisitions, listings and financings. Focusing on providing valuable knowledge and information as well as unique business-matching opportunities for its participants, the AACF is expecting over 300 delegates in attendance and support from a large number of industrial associations and corporate sponsors.

Since the times of the conquistadors, Latin America has been known throughout the world as a source of metals. Whether it be copper in Brazil or silver in Bolivia, in recent years, mining projects in Latin America have become increasingly profitable. For the first time in its 10 year history, the GCFF will be bringing Latin American mining opportunities to our Toronto Conference. The dates of this year’s Shanghai Conference 2010 have been confirmed for December 7th and 8th!
While we will be bringing a select group of China’s investors and business people to Toronto during the Access Asian Capital Forum to educate and network with North American companies, our Shanghai Conference will bring promising North American companies to back to Shanghai to meet with China’s investors and professionals at large.
