GCFF Conference-Shanghai 2009
The Global Chinese Financial Forum is proud to announce the completion of this year’s series of conferences with the end of the Shanghai Conference 2009. Held on December 2nd and 3rd, the Shanghai Conference 2009 hosted over 1,500 attendees and over 100 companies at the Grand Hyatt Shanghai Hotel in Pudong, Shanghai.
This year’s Shanghai Conference 2009 featured 5 distinct tracks:
VIP Keynote Forum
With notable speakers like Professor Robert Mundell, the VIP Keynote Forum brought the cutting edge knowledge of the economic trends behind China’s place in the economic world to over 400 VIP guests.
Global Capital Market Forum
With the growing number of Chinese companies seeking financing and listing opportunities in the west, the Global Capital Market Forum provided knowledge and strategies in listing and financing in the Canadian and US capital markets. Notable speakers include representatives from the NASDAQ, New York Stock Exchange and the Toronto Stock Exchange as well as many notable financial institutions and service providers including our sponsors – KPMG, Blake Cassells Graydon LLP, Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP, Ogilvy Renault, Blank Rome LLP and China Merchants Securities (HK) Co., Ltd.
Wealth Management Forum
The Wealth Management Forum was designed to bring international wealth management opportunities to the growing number of wealthy Chinese individuals. The Forum brought opportunities for the conferences over 1,400 attendees, including new investment opportunities in the real estate markets. The GCFF will continue to bring new, exciting alternative investment opportunities to its attendees.
Resource Industry Forum
As China’s need for natural resources grow, opportunities are abound for mining and energy related firms from North America. The Resource Industry Forum provided opportunities for the matching of Greater Chinese capital and North American projects. Through its many valuable speeches and presentations, the Resource Industry Forum was able to facilitate tomorrow’s deals. Partners for the Resource Industry Forum include the Hong Kong Energy and Mines United Association and the Association for Mineral Exploration British Columbia. The Resource Industry Forum arranged over two dozen private meetings between North American and Greater Chinese firms, including resources companies, investment banks, legal firms and other service providers.
Biotechnology Industry Forum
Co-organized with the Shanghai Medical Devices Association on Day 1 and BIOON on Day 2, the Life Sciences Forum brought together Greater Chinese life sciences companies, professionals and investors to meet with North American industry experts. Through the many speeches, panels and private meetings, the Life Sciences Forum helped prepare the new generation of Chinese biotechnology firms to enter into the global markets. Event Partners for the Biotechnology Industry Forum include BIOTECanada, the Biotechnology Initiative, and the Trillium Medical Technology Association. The Biotechnology Industry Forum also connected a number of Chinese biotech firms with their North American counterparts, helping to facilitate potential partnerships and investments between the two continents’ biotech industries.

The Shanghai Conference 2009 has brought to an end a long year of successful events.
